MatriceLab, a leading laboratory specializing in reproductive immunology, has unveiled a groundbreaking solution that increases expected birth rates by 40% to 50% for women facing infertility challenges. By decoding the complexities of reproductive immunology and tailoring therapeutic strategies, MatriceLab is revolutionizing the field of assisted reproduction, offering renewed hope to couples worldwide.

Infertility is a global issue, affecting millions of couples worldwide. In France, infertility affects one in four couples, according to the World Health Organization (WHO)

Defined as the inability to achieve pregnancy after twelve months of regular unprotected sexual intercourse, infertility can have various underlying causes, such as endometriosis, polycystic ovary syndrome, tubal issues or low sperm count.

However, in 10% of cases, no cause is found and 5% of women of childbearing age experience recurrent miscarriages. To address these challenges, Dr. Nathalie Lédée, a gynecologist, obstetrician and Doctor of Life Logic, initiated her research in 2004, focusing on unexplained failures of embryo implantation and exploring endocrinology, genetics and immunology.

During her research, Dr. Lédée crossed paths with Dr. Gérard Chaouat, a pioneer in immunology research related to maternal-fetal relationships. Dr. Chaouat was studying the role of immune factors in reproductive health, particularly in relation to HIV transmission.

This collaboration marked the beginning of a journey, leading Dr. Lédée to focus her thesis on embryo implantation failure and uterine receptivity through the lens of immunology. Alongside Marie Petitbarat, a doctoral student specializing in reproductive immunology, they established the Maternal-Fetal Immunological Dialogue Laboratory, eventually transforming it into a startup called MatriceLab in 2012.

Personalized Therapeutic Solutions

The primary goal behind MatriceLab was to offer personalized therapeutic solutions to facilitate the harmonious implantation of embryos for women experiencing challenges in their assisted reproductive journeys or recurrent miscarriages.

MatriceLab’s groundbreaking innovation lies in its ability to better understand the immunology of the endometrium through the analysis of multiple biomarkers. By diagnosing the immune balance and receptivity of the uterus, the laboratory can identify the immunological mechanisms contributing to implantation failures and tailor assisted reproduction attempts to restore this immune equilibrium.

Dr. Lédée explained:

“Determining the uterine immune profile of each patient aims to understand the potential mechanisms behind implantation failure or miscarriage.

A biopsy of the endometrium is performed during a consultation with a reproductive physician and the results are available within three weeks.

Based on these analyses, MatriceLab then proposes the most suitable personalized therapeutic strategy to each patient.”

The success of MatriceLab’s innovative approach has garnered significant interest from the medical community and patients worldwide. Currently, the laboratory analyzes over 400 biopsies per month, with 14% of them originating from international patients in countries such as Belgium, Finland, Spain, England, Switzerland, Canada and Vietnam.

Automation of the Analysis Process

To meet the growing demand from clinicians and patients seeking an immunological assessment of uterine receptivity before undergoing in vitro fertilization (IVF), MatriceLab has embraced automation.

By developing new analytical platforms and streamlining its processes, the laboratory aims to provide faster and more efficient services without compromising the accuracy and reliability of its analyses.

Ultimately, the goal is to establish partnerships with medical analysis laboratories in France and internationally, democratizing MatriceLab’s research technique and meeting the numerous requests from doctors and patients.

An Increase in Birth Rates of 40-50%

After more than ten years of research and assisting thousands of women, MatriceLab has achieved an increase in birth rates by 40% to 50%. These promising results have convinced women from around the world, demonstrating the impact and effectiveness of MatriceLab’s approach.

By decoding the complexities of reproductive immunology and tailoring therapeutic strategies based on individual immune profiles, MatriceLab is transforming the landscape of infertility treatment and offering hope to couples yearning to start a family.
