When LED technology lights up the operating room

The use of LED technology in hospitals, where lighting is a major issue, is a big step in terms of sustainability. The LED 3 MC from Dr. Mach is considered more effective and saves energy and costs compared to halogen bulbs and other conventional light sources. Heat emanation is reduced to a minimum without using an expensive filter.

The German company also points out that the device results in almost no temperature increase around the surgeon’s head. The model uses a varied mix of different colored LEDs, depending on the application. Five different color temperature values can be set: 3750, 4000, 4250, 4500 and 4750 Kelvin.

LEDs last longer than other lights. The LED 3 MC lifespan is more than 40,000 hours, reducing replacement costs considerably compared to halogens.

According to Dr. Mach, the use of LED technology could reduce power consumption by more than 50%.
