Remaining green even in the afterlife: a biodegradable funeral bag

Bio-FunerBag is a new sustainable system for holding corpses, replacing metal casket interiors.

It consists of a bio-plastic bag that is completely biodegradable and suitable to be used as compost for the protection of “the environment and future generations,” explains the hospital and morgue refrigeration equipment company CEABIS on its website.

The bag also has a hermetic sealing system for secure closure.

The same Italian company also manufactures a faster version of this product: the Bio-FunerBag Speed. The only difference is the sealing system. The Speed model is equipped with adhesive tape built into the bag. The user only needs to remove the protective film from the tape and join the two edges of the bag to create a rapid, tight seal that is gas- and liquid-proof, assures CEABIS.

The bags are ready to use and do not need preparation or the addition of other materials.
