Siemens Healthcare presented its Evar Guidance Engine software application package at the Charing Cross Symposium in London in late April. It is designed to “make work easier for surgeons.”

The software is the first automated support for minimally invasive endovascular treatment of abdominal aortic aneurysms. It automates workflow for stent placement with fusion imaging.

The Evar Guidance Engine supports the entire surgical process using automated workflow, from analysis of preoperative CT images to image-supported intervention and intra-operative 3D monitoring. Lower doses of radiation and contrast media are needed to position stents precisely. Intra-operative 3D imaging enables results to be checked immediately following surgery.
