    A 3-D-Printed Connected Leg Cast

    / /

The BOOMcast was one of the most spectacular pieces of technology presented at BIOMEDevice. Filled with electronic components, this leg cast includes four force-sensitive resistors that monitor the load-bearing conditions of the healing bone. As a connected device, these information are sent to the cloud in real-time and, if requested, to the doctor.

Among its multiple features, the BOOMcast is also equipped with Bluetooth speakers. Not only can these speakers connect to a mobile phone to play music, they can also play low-frequency tones, believed to facilitate the healing of the bone.

Last but not least, the BOOMcast is a custom-fit 3-D-printed leg cast, designed from a digital body scan.
